As the old saying goes, "When Life hands you lemons..."
Until now I would retort with "...break out the tequila" or some other lemon-esque snark. That said, I've found a better use: Cut a wedge, and add it to your tea.
One of the most satisfying, detoxifying, and gratify changes I've made to my diet lately was to simply incorporate an easy water-with-a-wedge beverage in the morning, and even repeated throughout the day. In fact, I've come to enjoy a cup of hot water with a half of a lemon each morning.
Now frankly, I could go on and on about whether to use a slice, a wedge, or a half versus a whole lemon, but really, the most important factor seems to simply be in having lemon water.
You can read about the benefits of drinking lemon water here, Here or HERE.
Now, what does this have to do with Vegan? Well, frankly, it's been an excellent replacement for Coffee. And yes, it pains me to say that simply because I enjoy the heck out of my morning coffee. Dark roast, cream, sugar and delicious. That is, until I read what ingesting white sugar is doing to me. And then combined with the statistic that there is an average of 2 million pus cells per table spoon of standard dairy product in the form of table cream, and I was checked out. Currently, I am sourcing alternate non-dairy creamer of a natural type but have not yet found one to my liking so here we are with lemon and water.
And yes, it's been a natural substitute taking very little to adjust. It's naturally refreshing, healthy and ESPECIALLY enjoyable with flavorful, organic lemons that I squeeze fresh into each mug.
Special note: For the cool beverage preference types, you can also enjoy this same method using luke-warm, or room temperature water. The important part is to use water that is as warm as possible - cold, straight from the tap, or on ice, is considerably less desirable, from a health standpoint. I can only assume at this point that the merits of warm water include the reduction of the internal body heat, or elimination of the shock of cold water hitting the internal organs. But I just made that up a little bit.
Cheers, and bottom's up,
Fat Guy
